Cinematically it appears to have better framing and care than the prequels. Aligning itself pretty well with episodes 4-6. The use of practical affects and 3D affects is something a lot of us Star Wars fans are quite excited about. Entire 3D rendered characters in Episode 1-3 really devaluates the production as it (at least for me) is harder to relate to the characters when you know they are just planted there in post editing.

So Star Wars Episode 7 seems to be on the right track. Can't wait to see a full trailer for it this year :D

So today I was very fortunate to get my hands on a ticket to the advanced screening of Transformers: Age of Extinction in Toronto. Before you read on... know that there will be a few spoilers in this soft review. I will not mention any critical events.

The film has a similar cinematic feel that the previous ones had. This time, however, not a single notable (human) actor from the previous films reprise their role in Age of Extinction. Which is some what relieving as the film series should be mainly revolving around the Transformers and not on specific human characters.

Mark Wahlberg plays the main character of the film: a financially struggling, robotics inventor who lives with his coming-of-age-daughter in a rural area of Texas. The film focuses a lot on these two and the dynamics of fatherhood. The theme runs through beginning till end. Some may consider it sappy, but its a good way to give the human characters a sense of purpose in the film and drive.

If your concerned the film may lack action, you'll be ever surprised with multiple battles that erupt unexpectedly. The films also seems to be a bit more daring than ever before, in terms of violence and unexpected loss. You will see a human casualties in menacing fashion. So there is more of that sense of danger whenever you seen an approaching Transformers baddy. I say baddy as the Decepticons are not the only enemy in this film. Which is a refreshing new arch for the series. There are a total of 5 factions of Transformers in Age of Extinction.

Here's my main problem with the movie: I felt there weren't enough interesting Autobots in this film. We get Prime and Bumble-Bee back which is great but the new filler characters just aren't interesting enough to make you feel any empathy for them or concern during battles. It also seems that Bumble-Bee has seemingly adapted the character traits of Jazz from the first film in the series. In personality and combat. The 3 new autobots lack personality. I honestly can't even remember one "the green one's" name. One of the 3 is a samurai with twin swords. Which is interesting to a degree... you'd expect to see him get into some pretty awesome fight scenes... but sadly you only see him fight once and when you do its literally not even a minute long (unless you count the random, pointless fight between him and bumble-bee).

They did however add a few new good Transformers to the mix, of which I must say was pretty awesome. The addition of the dinosaur bots. Once they took to battle it was just a crazy fun rampage to watch.

Film overall was "good" and it does keep an opening for further films in the series.

The effects and story in this sequel were actually quite decent. But however there is a big problem I've seen that has carried on from the previous film. Yet again Micheal Bay has introduced his vision of "Black" good guys. Characters using part Patwa accents mixed with urban youth slang.

Previously we were introduced to the character Jazz which used various street slang and your typical stereotypical black dialogue. This time they went way beyond and made two characters with broken English even jokingly mock themselves for being unable to read.

Too far Bay... too far this time.

Film sucked. It's for female teenagers to drool over a fictional, one dimensional, boring character. I've seen a lot of vampire films in my day but this shouldn't even be considered as such.

Make up work was atrocious. The mother character of Edward in the film had paint that barely extended to the scalp. At first I was like.. oh maybe its sunblock. NOPE! Just shitting ass work by 11 make up artists in the "professional" field of cinema. make-up.

Apparently the vampires can go in the sun... but OH NO lets not do that.. instead of burning up into flames we might get all shiny and "beautiful" and we defiantly don't want that. I honestly couldn't figure out what the purpose of the effect? Is it to ward off enemies or attract other vampires? Or to attract humans? Who know and who cares.

-40 out of 10 (minus 40 just because they decided it might be a good idea to do 4 more sequels)

So I'm sure many of you have heard of the Chupacabra legend which has sprouted from southern states and South America. Basically, the Chupacabra has been sighted mostly by farmers as it preys on small livestock and frequents mostly at night. It is believed that the predator attacks the prey at the neck and drains their blood rather than consuming most of the carcass. This bizarre method of feeding is what makes the creature seemingly terrifying. Unlike the vampire bat, the Chupacabra drains its victim's blood to the point where the prey dies. It has been described as hairless (or with only patches of hair), blue-ish skin, with glowing eyes, nocturnal, slim and has two long fangs and stands at about 2 feet tall.

I was watching the news today whereas a Texas state trooper was confronted by a strange type of canine. It turns out police caught footage of the Chupacabra which looked exactly the same as what I had thought it would and actually matched the descriptions of most sightings; according to descriptions from witnesses. It also proves the photos of the Chupacabra are indeed real that I've seen floating over the past several years. As shown above.

It is believed to be a hybrid canine that suffers from defects from cross-breeding or/and possibly manage.

A women recently found one dead near her ranch also in Texas. She claims that many of her smaller livestock had been "blood sucked" and she believes this was the creature that did it/
I was completely blown away by the gravity of this film. the outstanding performance by Heath Ledger combined with intense action, drama and plenty of twists and surprises to keep you glued to the screen hoping to nature doesn't call.

This is by far one of the best comic book to movie film I have ever seen. The Joker's character was terrifying thanks to Heath Ledger. He created a genuinely creepy and realistic Joker we have yet to see on screen. Jack Nicholson's rendition of the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman filmed in the 1990's was in no doubt good... but however there is no comparison with the level of performance by Heath Ledger.

I can't say too much about the film since its filled with twists and surprises. You defiantly have to check it out for yourself!

10/10Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974624978901992827.post-27426163175865068902008-07-18T11:46:00.011-04:002010-05-08T18:35:02.331-04:00Dark Knight VehiclesThe Dark Knight is finally out in theaters all over North America. The streets are packed and everyone is crowded the entrances in theaters all over in hopes of good seats. I hope to see the film sometime on opening . Its widely anticipated; but as for myself I really want to see the new rendition of the joker played by Heath Ledger. Just by looking at the trailer, I can tell this is going to be a good film.

I bet a million people are trying to find a torrent for this video. I say... shame on you! I think this is defiantly a theater worthy movie. I've been a fan of the Batman stories since I was quite young. I really enjoyed the Art Deco themed animated series of Batman back in the 1990s. It help keep me involved in story. Tim Burton's renditions of the Batman story to film was really well done. I enjoyed the first two films. The others following were okay but not as good as the first two.

I took some photos on my cell phone of the Dark Knight vehicles when they were in Toronto last week, before they were taken back to California the following day.

Trumbler Exhaust

Trumbler

Bat Pod

If you would like to use these photos for anything, just remember to credit me where you use them. It was really creepy and odd. Some parts are hard to watch others will make you just laugh. The horrible acting is actually comical and the decent violence in it is pretty out-standing and realistic. My involvement in Luminato 2008 was quite exhausted yet really exciting all at the same time. Working along-side pathways with Regent Park Focus we were able to transform the dirty, dark, "slum" look of Regent Park into a giant canvas of artwork.

Regent Park is an area in Toronto that is the largest project housing community in North America and happens to also be the oldest. So the buildings arnt entirely that all visually appealing. I've been a resident of the area most oup until my adult life.

With all the hardwork everyone involved pumped into the night generating such fantastic ideas and artwork we had made quite a display for the city to see. For the first time Toronto was invited into Regent Park.

I was quite surprised to see walking through regent, a 21+ Foot sized photo of my own face plastered on the walls of a townhouse complex i once i used to live in so many years ago.

It was of no surprise that Transformers and Pirates were nominated. Along with those two was the Golden ass. I literally yelled "WHAT!?" when they revealed the winner of best visual effects as being Golden Compass over Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean.

This is completely outrageous! Did they even take a look at the amount of work put into Transformers and Pirates? Not only that... look at the out come. Those two films look incredible; especially Transformers. I was completely blown away by the visual effects in that film. I've already seen the damn coca-cola bear on screen in commercials... not impressed.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidC8nGa7EOr5JdTzHWvayHsUhoERoaO3oc_13KyrP1GVvfjSBVuFs8A-o5zccFOmsKTHiTFy7O2pcCXCxp0UpWCt371tQl6AAcotGbVN5uFwROFv1HVTZn81K9Fd7d87x2M_QNobFxGcXy/s320/Coca-Cola---Polar-Bear--C10286940.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5184735153213444834" />
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974624978901992827.post-8707662042386957882007-12-07T01:26:00.000-05:002013-04-18T01:55:52.333-04:002007 Mayor’s Community Safety Award!

After a long tiring year of filming, editing and encoding for ever growing popular RPTV (Regent Park TV), produced by youths for youth, we finally did it! Not to say we didn't get noticed in the past when RPTV first launched. It sure got its share of attention back then with being blogged about by 100's and featured on the cover of the Toronto Star and FUSE Magazine. But today was the day for RPTV, we received the 2007 Mayor’s Community Safety Award!
Hip Hop History has been made!

MANIFESTO:
A Toronto based event spanning 4 days, containing 8 events featuring over 85 Toronto Hip Hop Artists! This event was jam-packed with workshops, break-dancing, beat boxing and live hip-hop performances from all my favorite Toronto hip-hop artists!

History was made and i was proudly there to witness it. The Sunday night event had all my favorite Toronto Hip-Hop Artists preforming along side with each other for the first time ever in history; preforming a "Live Mixtape".

ARTISTS:
Maestro, Michie Mee, Saukrates, Dream Warriors, Choclair, Dan-e-o, Tara Chase, Brassmunk, Eternia, Daetona, Rochester and Kamau.

The concert was without a doubt the best hip-hop performance I've ever seen or attended and I hope they will bring it back again next year! Craziest part about this jam-packed event was that it was totally free! (Though I'd defiantly pay to see that again.)

I got the the opportunity to have a little talk with Saukrates. I asked him how long it took everyone to put this live mixtape together and he said they pretty much just winged it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974624978901992827.post-67146760711180980672007-09-05T19:46:00.000-04:002007-12-09T01:18:30.641-05:00BET - Read A BookBET has recently aired a rap song that is supposedly suppose to encourage young people into reading a book, drinking water, watch your kids... etc. But the way the message is delivered, some may consider it to being racist. This video has recently stirred up some controversy, enough so that it even got play on CNN.

Here's a very good quote from a youtuber:

"You know if instead of "Read a book nigga.." he would have said "Smoke a blunt nigga..." no one would have a problem with it.

That is the point of this RAP song.

It is not meant to encourage you to read a book, it is meant for you to OPEN your eyes and see the root of the problem in todays society."

"THIS SONG IS A SOCIAL SATIRE"

I love the fact that CNN made sure that a black male reporter conducted the interview with the creator of this song. I guess it would seem too strange to have a white reporter conduct the interview debating such an issue. CNN pretty much bashed the creator without allowing him to really establish his reason for creating the song. Good old American Media... bahhh.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974624978901992827.post-54965997163967815362007-05-08T03:37:00.000-04:002007-12-09T01:19:00.319-05:00Bike Man Goes to Mexico!
Bike Man Goes to Mexico!

It came of great shock for me to hear that a couple RPTV (Regent Park TV) episodes including the Bike Man series, have been requested to be screened in a location in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. I have very little information about this screening in Mexico. The only other information I've been given is that the people screening the films are in hopes that we'll be visiting them to talk about the films at the screening. However, none of the staff that worked on the RPTV episodes, including myself, will be able to travel overseas to this screening. I still think its pretty amazing that they are interested in the videos I have worked on. Never thought I'd have films I've worked, on go international!

UPDATE!:

Screening Location

Museum of Contemporary Art (MACAY), Merida, Yucatan,
MexicoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974624978901992827.post-10351633052498803552007-04-14T20:24:00.000-04:002007-12-09T01:19:41.751-05:00Shooting For Change

Shooting For Change

Its been a while since I've blogged about anything on here but I think today's event is defiantly worth noting. Today was the premiere of a documentary called "Shooting for Change" produced by INSYNC Videos. I went to see this documentary about me and my work, with my co-workers and my girlfriend, Rachelle. The film was absolutely fantastic! The way it was laid out and edited was great. I was worried originally that the film was going to portray me as just a former resident of Regent Park still considered "at risk"; but after watching the film I'm totally happy to be one of the main focuses in it!

The film was called "Shooting for Change" and is expected to be aired on OMNI TV during the Summer of 2007. Following its appearance on OMNI, a DVD of the film will be available for purchase. So if you miss out on seeing it on TV, you still have a chance to see it on DVD!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
